Dec 2 2010 I started a clean eating challenge with my Beach body coach to help us get through the Christmas season without cookies and chocolate. This is my journey.
I avoided all alcohol, cookies, tarts, pies, cakes goodies of any sort. The most challenging was chocolate, but I did it. I did not deprive myself I simply told my self on Christmas day I could have chocolate and some alcohol. I was a bit disappointed, a week before Christmas I weighed myself only to discover that the fat loss I experienced after the first week had returned with no explanation, I didn’t cheat and only ate non processed foods, so what happened, I still have no idea. Days before Christmas I thought o.k. I will weigh in one more time, and I was down to almost 20% body fat and down a total of 5 lbs, I was thrilled, with my body type I don’t need to lose pounds but I do need to reduce my body fat.
Christmas morning I had 2 cups of coffee with Bailey’s and a couple of pieces of sugar-free chocolate that was given to me in my stocking, throughout the day I had 3 glasses of wine ( home-made so it is sweeter than store-bought) 2 black Russians ( total of 4 oz of alcohol) and guess what, my weight is all the way back up to where it was before I started the clean eating challenge and my body fat is 22%! I am way past disappointed, those few indulgences have destroyed all of my efforts. I am hoping that once it all works its way out of my system I will return to my pre-Christmas numbers.
Needless to say I am back on the clean eating, and hope that I can stick with it for a long, long time to come. I mentioned to my husband that my skin feels healthier, I feel healthier, I was not retaining fluids like I have in the past, there really is a lot of benefits to clean eating, if you are sitting on the fence about clean eating and would like some tips I would be happy to share them with you, if you have recipes or suggestions for eating clean, please feel free to post them so that we can all benefit from being the healthiest we can be.
Live, Love, Laugh.
