Weight Watching

This is one of the busiest season, and the most fun… there will be tins full of cookies, squares, cakes and puddings, are you an indulger or a “oh no, I am watching my waist line”

What you should be watching is really your liver,  the extra salt ( sodium) as well as other foods can cause damage to your liver that is equal to the damage alcohol can do.  The more the food is processed the higher the sodium.  One tsp of salt = 2,000 mg of sodium, you should only consume between 1,000 – 3,0000 mg of sodium per day.

Water is another factor in “weight gain”.  Did you know that the less water you drink the more water you retain,  so get that water into you!  8 – 8 oz glasses a day,  if you are one of the ones that really hates water start slowly, eventually you will come to love it, and it may take time, but your body will thank you for it.  By the way, coffee does not count, coffee will actually dehydrate you and that is exactly the opposite of what you want to accomplish.

Eat healthy, drink lots of water, watch the salt and you should get through the holidays without too much weight gain, and yes you can sneak the goodies when no one is watching, depriving yourself of treats is just being mean to yourself, just don’t over indulge!
